Graduated in Social Communication from UFRJ in 1985, Marcelo Moraes began a career editing commercials and music videos, earning awards such as the 2001 MTV Award for Rubão, o Dono do Mundo by Charlie Brown Jr.
Since 1999, Marcelo Moraes has dedicated his work to editing feature films and documentaries, standing out for À Margem da Imagem (2003), winner of Best Documentary at the Gramado and Rio Film Festivals, and O Outro Lado da Rua (2004), awarded at Tribeca, Berlin, and Mar del Plata.
In 2009, the editor received the Best Editing Award for Meu Nome Não é Johnny at the Grande Prêmio do Cinema Brasileiro and the Miami Film Festival.
From 2010 onward, edited national blockbusters such as De Pernas para o Ar and Minha Mãe é uma Peça.
The film editor also signed the editing of Dom — Amazon Prime Video’s most successful non-English-language series in 2021 and 2023 — as well as Every Day the Same Night (Todo Dia a Mesma Noite, Top 1 on Netflix Brazil for 10 weeks and Top 6 worldwide) and 1 Against All (1 Contra Todos), nominated for the International Emmy Awards for three consecutive years.
